This past holiday season, a group of family & friends were playing ‘Heads Up.’ This is a charades-style game I had never played before and for this particular category, we had to act out the clues. The old me would have sat quietly in a corner in this type of situation. Luckily, because of my positive experience with the Adult Improv program at LCA, everybody, including myself, was having a grand old time jumping around, making crazy noises and acting downright silly. It was a whole lot of fun that I would have previously missed out on.
It wasn’t until this experience over the holidays that I realized the ‘real-world’ benefits of the fun, laughter and total hilarity of our improv workshops LCA. What seems like a fun night out a couple times a month has given me more confidence in my business and personal life. Sure, I’ve made great friends, laughed until my face and sides hurt and have felt rejuvenated at the end of each class. But more importantly, I have learned to relax, accept and to totally commit to any given situation in my daily life. During this holiday game, I did just that. I totally committed to it; no holds barred, I was ‘all in.’ I rolled on the floor, jumped in the air and enjoyed my family and friends laughing WITH me (or maybe AT me). I came into the Improv program scared out of my mind, but because I took a risk, I have gained so much from it. You’ve got to try it!

March 16th (7:15PM)
April 20th (7:15PM)
I’m Elaina and I just started taking classes at LCA this past fall. I love LCA’s acting classes because it’s SO much fun and we get to act in a show. I really liked being a Caterpillar and now I’m going to be the Evil Queen this time. Seeing my friends and doing dress-up are my favorites too. Miss Aviva, Miss Amanda and Mr. Michael are great! I love it, thank you!
I’m Elaina’s mom, Monica, and we absolutely love the program at LCA! This session is our 5 year old daughter, Elaina’s, second (of many to come!) and we already see how the program has impacted her. She loves coming to class each week, but we as parents love the fact that exposing her to creative role play has led to more imaginative play on her own at home. With chances to sing, dance, act, use her imagination, and role play, we feel she is getting the benefits that 3 or 4 separate programs would provide all in one place. And being an only child, Elaina has a chance at LCA to build confidence and self esteem as the center of attention while also learning how to share that spotlight graciously. Thank you to everyone who makes this program available to our kids!!!
