This past holiday season, a group of family & friends were playing ‘Heads Up.’ This is a charades-style game I had never played before and for this particular category, we had to act out the clues. The old me would have sat quietly in a corner in this type of situation. Luckily, because of my positive experience with the Adult Improv program at LCA, everybody, including myself, was having a grand old time jumping around, making crazy noises and acting downright silly. It was a whole lot of fun that I would have previously missed out on.
It wasn’t until this experience over the holidays that I realized the ‘real-world’ benefits of the fun, laughter and total hilarity of our improv workshops LCA. What seems like a fun night out a couple times a month has given me more confidence in my business and personal life. Sure, I’ve made great friends, laughed until my face and sides hurt and have felt rejuvenated at the end of each class. But more importantly, I have learned to relax, accept and to totally commit to any given situation in my daily life. During this holiday game, I did just that. I totally committed to it; no holds barred, I was ‘all in.’ I rolled on the floor, jumped in the air and enjoyed my family and friends laughing WITH me (or maybe AT me). I came into the Improv program scared out of my mind, but because I took a risk, I have gained so much from it. You’ve got to try it!

FUTURE MEETING DATES:
Feb. 23rd (7PM)
March 16th (7:15PM)
April 20th (7:15PM)
At LCA we’re happily welcoming 2015 with open arms. As we prepare for our winter session, this is the perfect time for parents to introduce captivating and fun activities into their child’s schedule. What better than a LCA Performance Workshop or IMPROV. class?
We’re excited to show students how to build up layers that make characters onstage so interesting. Students will develop their own monologues and learn what it means to command the stage. They’ll be introduced to higher-level acting games and will perform them for families.
IMPROV. has always been a fan favorite because it’s invigorating and structured differently than traditional acting classes. Students will fine tune their knowledge of improv. rules through play. It’s a multi-sensory experience as everyone interprets emotions. Verbal skills always improve. Spontaneity is something everyone becomes comfortable with!
-Developed sense of analysis
-Problem solving skills heightened
-Reasoning and abstract thinking increased
Time is running out! Be sure to sign-up today as class sizes are limited!
